Derailed 2005 Movie Review

It was days ago when I viewed this movie downloaded by hubby. It starred Jennifer Aniston, Clive Owen and Vincent Cassel. The movie was about the unfaithful husband (Charles Schine) who took a daily railway train to reach his job and got tempted by a lady passenger who paid for his ticket. The story started when Charles a devoted father to a diabetic daughter worked hard to save money for his daughters’ medication but fall short when he falls into the trap of a black mailer portrayed by Vincent Cassel (Philippe LaRoche).

It was really a twist of fate to think that Charles adultery did not resulted into a steamy relationship with Lucinda Harris (Aniston) but much worst than that. I like how this movie goes hidden and not the same usual movie that is easy to predict. It was a movie with a hidden agenda and you will like the middle portion of it till the ending part of the movie.

It will also make your blood boil once you see the character of Cassel (Philippe) who likes to juice up Charles every ounce of money to cover up what had happened in the hotel. I also like the scene to where Charles tries to investigate on his own when he had no one else to turn to and what transformed him when he bravely narrowed the road to fix his problem and find a solution. A desperate man who corrected his wrong and boldly confessed to his wife what he has done.

So the moral lesson of the movie is ADULTERY IS A SIN. No matter how people try to cover flings and sweet nothings, it may lead only to a trap which is temptation. The ending of the story was great. It was a happy ending to the family of Charles and death to the culprits who does illegal things and destroys family relationship.

It was a suspense, love story and drama for me. There was a bit of action but not to the fullest level that I may label it as an action movie. There was no graphic or cinematic effects applied. The background song was just fine and it was not annoying. I don’t know if this movie was adapted to another old movie but I guess the director made a good move in this one. To top it all, I would give this movie, 4 popcorns out of five which is the highest.

Starring:

Jennifer Aniston (Lucinda Harris)
Clive Owen (Charles Schine)
Vincent Cassel (Philippe LaRoche)

type of movie: suspense,drama,love story

Verdict: Must see movie, 4/5 popcorns
